Akai EIE Range Now In Stock

It’s hard to stand out in the crowded audio interface market but Akai have done just that with their stylish and affordable EIE range!

Both USB interfaces come with 4 combined XLR-1/4″ jack audio inputs (with phantom power), dedicated gain-pots and Mic/Line/Guitar switch.

Akai have also included 3 three additional USB 1.1 ports allow the EIE to function as a hub as well, bridging other MIDI controllers and hard-drives to the computer.

Four nickel-plated ¼” balanced outputs, 4 audio inserts and MIDI In/Out round off and impressive feature list. The icing on the cake comes in the form of a pair of analogue VU meters and retro design.

Akai have really outdone themselves here with an excellent audio interface, both in looks and functionality. Rarely have we seen as many quality inputs and outputs for such a competitive price.

Review: Toontrack EZ Keys Grand Piano Songwriting Tool

ftr_ezkeysreview

With EZ keys it’s clear that Toontrack have aimed to simplify the songwriting process itself. Constructing chord progressions, verses, choruses, even creating entire songs can be achieved in a matter of seconds.

The Slim Phatty contains the same sound engine as it's older brother, the Little Phatty, but at a few hundred pound cheaper you lose the keyboard (and modulation and pitch wheel). Unless you're are going for pure manipulation of the audio in, which I wouldn't hesitate to recommend, most likely you will want to play it with a keyboard. Using a MIDI keyboard with pitch bend and modulation wheel features already makes up for most of what's lost from the Little Phatty, but for 2/3 of the price.
